Interesting article considering what's happening begging for money in the congregations
by JakeM2012 inhttp://www.cnn.com/2015/06/14/us/sunday-stickup/index.html.
i thought this article had some interesting interesting comments including this, "if a pastor or church leader has ever told you that the bible commands christians to tithe or give 10% of their income; hit you up for multiple offerings during one service; made you march up front to give; asked you to donate to a mysterious "building fund" or give a "first-fruit" offering; or even given special recognition to big givers in your congregation, lee and other pastors have a message for you:.
you are getting played.. these rituals, they say, violate new testament teachings about how and why people should give.

Crazy guy, I understand many feel the need to make a firm stand, but everything seems to indicate that you can't TELL someone ttatt. They've got to want to know it themselves.
My wife knows how I feel and she knows I'm only going to support her and not destroy our social circle. I ask occasional questions, but eventually, she'll want to know why I feel the way I do, and hopefully, because she WANTS to know, it'll have effect.

Being shunned only increases my certainty that the WBT$ is a cult
by punkofnice inwell, i don't wanna rant too much but sometimes things cut you don't they.. a family member had a get together for the family, jw and non jw and of course i wasn't invited being da'd.. i understand why they couldn't invite me but it just made me think.
in normal society this wouldn't happen.
i'd have been there.. the shunning is so unnatural and damaging.

Äkta Människor (Real Humans)
by Simon inwe've just started watching this swedish parallel-present series about human-like robots (hubots) seeking independence.. its really well done but subtitled (if you didn't mind the original "girl with the dragon tattoo") and the best description of it i was saw the stepford wives meets blade runner.
kind of creepy and unsettling and touches on some adult themed topics (robots for sex).. anyone else seen it?
i only started watching because i was too lazy to get up and get the remote one night but it was pretty gripping.. .

The English version starts in the UK on Sunday evening, really looking forward to it... I didn't know it was a remake of a Swedish original, thanks for pointing that out. -

Spin it.
1. Back pedal the material, soften it, focus on Christ, qualities, community, love, make it more 'Christian' and loving than anything we ever get asked to talk about, and get congratulated afterwards on what a great talk it was, your best yet.
2. Do what punk said, go hard line, ultra jw, obey the gb, salvation only comes from them, do more, do more, do MORE, and aren't we brilliant cos only we have the (ever changing) truth. Then get congratulated afterwards on what a great talk it was, your best yet.
Either way, the audience have decided it's their truth, so they'll make whatever you say fit.

Some great advice up there.
Sorry you're going through this.
You should be with someone that's your best friend, not someone that does any of the above listed things.....
Much love.

Blood Reasoning...
by iwasblind inas we fade we still do studies with people but only from the scriptures.. one study asked about the blood, so we should the revelant scriptures and asked how she felt about transfusions.. she said that "nothing loses it's life when you receive blood so it is fine in her conscience".
love it!
the scriptures clearly show that the blood being poured out was to show respect that something lost it's life.. maybe you can ask a witness, why it is ok to receive an organ from someone who has passed away but not ok to receive blood from a live person?.

having a dark night of the soul
by Miss Behaving ini'm writing this here because i need someone to talk to, and you're the only folks i know who will understand.
most of the time i think i'm a pretty happy and together person, but lately, i'll see something that reminds me of my family and i'll spontaneously start crying.
i miss them so much and my heart keeps breaking, and even though i have kind people i work and volunteer with, i feel so incredibly lonely sometimes.
